Kilt night in Greenville South Carolina
Ok, I know it's a little late and the timing is a little off, but, Myself and a few of my friends are going to be out at Dougal McGuires on Laurens Rd. in Greenville on the 26th of December at 8:30PM till. I know its the day after Christmas but what better way to wash down all those great eats but at a bar. Their suspose to have some live entertainment of the Irish music variety on that night and every Tuesday night for that matter. Ither way, if anyone from this kilt wearing community wants to come please feel free to be there. If no one wants to no big deal I know its last minute.

Where is Dougal McGuires? I grew up off Laurens Rd. between Greenville and Mauldin so it can't be five miles from my parent's old house. (They lived in that house for 49 years.)
Have fun tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I'll have to miss that. I have obligations that night . . .:(
Where on Laurens is that?
What is the name of the one on Woodruff, just down from Hobby Lobby (I forget)?
-
Well craaaaap.
That's just to far away for me to hoof it. I wish it was closer to home, say, main street.
I'd love to have a kilted gathering here in Greenville.

Dee, its in a small strip mall across the street from the Mcalister Square mall on Laurens Road. Right across the road from it is a Chick- fil-et and a Checkers.
John, that would be JG O'Mallys.
Dreadbelly, Let me know where is a good place on Main St. and I'd love to come.

Thanks for the clarification.
On main, the Blue Ridge Brewery (if open and correct name) on north end of main drag is a good place for food and drinks.

Blue Ridge is verra nice. They have some excellent high octane ales. The beer battered onion rings are wonderful.
Barley's Tap Room and Pizzaria is also downtown, but it is overpriced, and the pizza is DEEEEEEEEEEESCUSTING.
Sharkey's Pub is decent, the Shark Bites are fabu. Brocolli and cheese deep fried. However, Sharkey's tends to have, well, a somewhat rowdy crowd. I can not recommend a kilt night there, unless you want said night to involve a possible fist fight or three. During the afternoon, the off hours, it is fine.
Connolly's Irish Pub is also downtown, not kilt friendly. Last time I was there, it was a hang out for punks, miscreants, and cretins. I am NOT saying the Irish are any of those things :naughty: it is just the sorts of people who hang out there. And when I went there it was overpriced 5 dollar glasses for watered down beer.
There are a couple of other taverns, pool halls, and what not downtown. Incuding a very seedy hangout which I will not name. We shouldn't go there either. Well, I can't go back there any time soon any how. Let's not go in to details, shall we?
Blue Ridge is a nice quiet reserved sort of place. It is not a rowdy sort of hang out. It is dark and dim, smells quite pleasant at all times, but especially so when they are brewing beer, and the wait staff are second to none for decency and service.

Well you know I'm up for about any time. Blueridge Brewing sounds fine with me. Lets try to get something together.

I can't male the 26th, but most nights can be there with bells on. I'm pretty sure that I can twist LeAcadianEmbaumer's arm and get him to come along too. I second the Blue Ridge option - it's a great li'l pub with great food and microbrews, great service and ambience. But, like DB said, there are a lot of options on Main street. Of course, DB, if you ever need a ride, I'll come down from Asheville, so I can give you a ride if'n ya like.
I'm up for most nights, but I won't be home till Thursday. Thanks for your efforts, Brett.

Oooh oooh oooh there might actually be a gathering of the kilted masses somewhere near my area, I can feel it.
The downtownies will prolly freak out a little bit, but that's ok. It's good for them. While I am a regular fixture downtown, a number of kilted folk would likely have folk asking if there was a parade or something.
And I'd rather not go to any of the seedier places if it is all the same. I have no intentions of ever getting my self in trouble ever again. I am now a sworn pacifist. :naughty:
When is a good time? I am a ten minute walk from the Blue Ridge. So I can arrive with bells on at almost any time, provided that I actually remember what time it is and I don't forget. Because I do that. Especially when I am crocheting.
