    Kevin.:

Sounds to be a very enjoyable evening. Thus far MacHummel, Improv1 and myself are more than interested. Please post on this thread those interested. for those in the American chapter of SOKS Hamilton is less than an hour away from Niagara Falls just follow the QEW then get off less than an hour later. I will post a map and directions here later. Here is a link to Scottish Rite Club

No offense to the Queen's Head, but Hamilton is oh-so-much more accessible for me. I hope our Niagara area friends would make it out for this. The Rite is such a beautiful building. Lots of history there. And curry within walking distance! (wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more!)

Oh we will be behaving here. And yes it is a beautiful building I've seen a few times and admired it. I have often slagged "Steeltown" as I live next door, but they do have such fantastic architecture. I guess McMurdo is going to have "car problems" :liar: on Friday and might be a little late for work:roll: but am sure he won't miss another chance of wearing his pc.

Ok we can make it a not so dressy night I've always want to go to the Scottish Rite . This gonna be awesome.

    Gents,

The only dress requirement of the club, is that you are dressed! I'll need to send in a firm # to the Club by the 26th of March, it will also determine which room we eat in. A more intimate # will be in the main dining room, a larger number will be in the "off the main dining room". So, I think I've counted 5 or 6 of us to date...I'll keep track and let the SR folks know.

I think dressy is nice, but for those who can't, come "as you are"!

In terms of purchasing a kilt, I've got to recommend MacHummel and his work at Canadian Casual Kilts. Mine was ready in 5 days after ordering and is a magnificent piece of work. My wife and I have dinner parties every Sunday, and except that I don't have a proper belt yet, the kilt has been a hit every week since I've owned it. Black Stewart is a fine tartan that I have used formally and informally. Check out www.canadiancasualkilts.com.

RevK, I think so far there is just the 4 of us firmed up unless you've been contacted by other means. I shall add this to the calendar.

Ok, so I read the post, and think...hey, that's tonight. I'm already going out with my wife tonight. I can't go. How did I miss this? Then, my old brain started to work. It's not March, yet! March 29, is a Thursday, and if so, I'll be there, too. Let us know if it's casual, semi-formal, or formal.

If there are any SOKS coming by Niagara Falls on the QEW, stop in at my place, and I'll drive from here.

Well, I guess if the Lassie's are kilted, they might want to join?!?! What say the rest of the lads? The S.R. Club is open to the ladies of members, so as long as we know the # beforehand...whatever...

I hear a knock in my engine already, imagine that, if I can make it I will, but will have to double check things and make a firm commitment later.

So, semi-formal should be okay? I'm stopping by the local shop Friday anyway, but my plan is to order a custom grey Argyll, not buy an off-the-rack black ... (if they even have my size)

Yes, semi-formal is the preferred attire, but "come as you are able." We all want you to join the party. I'll be in shirt, tie, Argyll, brogues...not sure which kilt yet. I was talking with Grant, and suggested he may like to see my SK Loch Ness, rather than my B&Struth "tank". My sporran will depend upon which kilt I wear.

I'm keeping on eye on the number attending...I'd like to let the club know by the 26th or 27th how many to prepare for on the 29th. I'm having lunch there this week, so I'll check which room(s) are/is available. The tour will not be a problem, nor will the drinks afterward - either the reading room or the parlour...so...confirm your attendance and you'll be counted in.

I am officially confirming that you will all be graced with my presence.

Oh and Grant I have an extra Argylle jacket that I will bring for you, it's a grey checked tweed, with green and brown in it, from The Kilt Shop in Edinburgh.
I think it will work well for you.

Note: The Sleekit Badger (in Dunnville) is trying to organize a monthly Celtic/Gaelic themed night. When I get more details, I will post them on a new post.

OK people, I've been following this thread with some interest. Since I cannot make it, there had better be some pictures that accompany it.

If not, then when we're in Ontario next month I'll be exacting retribution!

Scoutniagara - you have a PM.
Dee - not to worry, I'll have my camera and a spare set of batteries with me.
Grant - since a couple of us don't drink, you have to provide the beers that we would have. Remember the old adage - never accept beer a teetotaler.

Wompet...I now, have read what happened with you. Sorry for your misadventure...but the internet maps programs are quite good..not perfect, but quite good. I just drove to Monticello, NY and back, and even though the directions weren't perfect, I never got lost.

    Gents of the kilt,

I count 7 for dinner on Thursday, I'm going to the Club for lunch tomorrow, so will confirm...our cook suggests we may have to eat closer to 6pm, so drinks would be around 5:30 for the first round...then tour...then more drinks of alcohol and non-alcohol...I'm going to get my dear colleague to join with his tartan tie...(no kilt yet)...so we might be 8.

Let me know before 11am tomorrow for your attendance...

My new XMarks appears to be lucky too...
She wanted to see my "weapon".
And there was poor Twinkletowz with Mrs. Towz. Mrs. Towz might not allow Mr. Towz to be kilted when there are inibriated 20-somethings around.

    Hi Gents,

sadly our club has not finished finishing its floors, so we will be eating and drinking in the round room...the parlour may be finished, but we'll see. We're on track for the tour. I'll be there just before 5:30pm. I've booked for 10 of us.

    C U there.
