Hi y'all from Alabama!

My mother was a Creech. I understand Creech is a sept of the McDuff Clan.
Can anyone tell me exactly what that means and do I have a right to claim the McDuff Clan as my own? I'm new at this clan business and would appreciate any useful info.

The tartan is stunning and the Clan history is interesting, just a tid bid for you-
MacDuff was the patronymic of the Celtic Earls of Fife.
1st Earl Opposed MacBeth and assisted Malcolm to the throne of Scotland.
I might suggest looking for a Scottish Highland Games in your Area, since you didn't mention where you live, I can't point you in the right direction. The Clan website has events going on in different regions of the U.S.A.
