Anyone ever have any dealings with Bonbright Woolens?

Bonbrightwoolens.com is supposedly manufacturing the California tartan, a length of which I'm attempting to acquire. I've phoned and emailed to no avail. The website is up but no one's home. Anyone know what's going on? Anyone have dealings with them?

Did you try calling on a weekday or weekend? Might have closed offices on weekends.

I called on a weekday during regular business hours and left a voicemail message. Twice.

    Steve,

I've not dealt with them directly, but have heard good things about them.

Anyway, unless there is some production restriction on the California tartan, I can also help you aquire cloth. Are you looking for wool? Cotton? Silk? Just enough to make a kilt? Or a whole bolt of cloth? You can PM me for details.

    Aye,
    Matt

I think Bonbright own the rights to distribute the California tartan -- but I'm not certain about that. Did you try to contact Jim Anderson at bonbright@tartanplaid.com? I have always been able to get him at that email address, though I haven't communicated with him recently. The phone number I have is 818-716-0963. Are those the ones you've been trying? Or if all else fails, you could send a postcard to Jim at: 22647 Ventura Boulevard #354, Woodland Hills, CA 91364-1416, and ask him to phone you!

You might tell them that their web site is a disaster. No matter what platform I use to view it, on what comptuer, all the java buttons are non-functional.

They're probably very nice people, but that site!

There's a pipe band in Sacramento that wears the tartan, so it's got to be generally available.

You're so right about the web site! It takes forever to load and I hate the Java buttons too. I agree, someone should tell them!

Cyndi - I've tried both that phone and email address more than once each. I left messages, but gotten no call back.

And yeah, their website really is a disaster. If I ever get a live person on the line, I'll convey that message.

Well, someone from Bonbright finally returned my call and said he was out of town but that he would call when he got back to California in a few days. That was three weeks ago. I don't expect anyone to lift my pleats and kiss my hairy bee-hind, but if this is how they operate, I can probably live without the CA tartan. Thanks for nothing, Bonbright Woolens!

I checked the STA listing for the tartan:
    http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...p?txtID=002454

Nothing there indicates that it has any restrictions on who can weave it. If you want me to try to find alternate weavers for you, I'd be glad to. Are you looking for just enough for one kilt, or a whole bolt of cloth?

Cyndi, you said you thought Bonbright owned the rights to produce it... are you certain, or just guessing? Let me know if you know for sure, I don't want to step on any toes!

    Matt
