    Rather gutted

So not too long ago I bought my first kilt, a sage UK survival, then later purchasing a 'tank'.

I've enjoyed the survival much and have attracted much talk and attention from my friends, some of whom are now interested in buying one. One particular friend, a very good one (I was his Best Man only three months ago) whom I trust and respect was going to be attending a Ren Faire with his wife, and my family and me. He has really been interested in the whole kilt idea but his wife isn't too keen and has been one of the most outspokenly critical of my new move. Both of us being the same size I told him that at some point he might like to try wearing my UK some time, but due to his wife, the moment would have to be right.

Well, it turns out she wouldn't object to him wearing one at the Ren Faire since 'many people would be dressed up their anyway'. So I thought, there's the chance, I'd let him borrow my UK for the day out, let him see what he thinks and get his wife used to the idea.

We all had a good day out, and he had enjoyed it, but by the end of the day upon returning the kilt he noted that he'd been eating something (an oversized turkey leg I think) and something had dripped down onto the kilt...front apron.

I was a bit annoyed but accidents happen and I wasn't too concerned since I knew I could just throw it in the wash, and it was also one of the kilts with the nanocare technology.

Turns out that after throwing it in the wash, there are still two stains on the apron. They look like grease stains, and in parts the stains can been seen on the reverse side of the apron, having passed through.

I'm a bit annoyed that my friend managed to spill food down it, but there's nothing to be done. I'm just hoping that perhaps I can treat it with a stain remover.

    Galant,

What a bummer. But like you said accidents do happen, and you know that it was not intentional.

Have you made contact with Utilikilts to see what they say about the cleaning of those stains? They may be able to give you some advice along with others here.

As a kilt lover I hope that it works out well for you, and that you can again wear it with pride.

UtiliKilt materials will hold a stain worse than a Monica Lewinski dress.

If you dried it... you may be sunk.

If you let it hang-dry... try dabbing the stain with "Shout" and let it sit overnight. You can handwash the area to see if it comes out.

Otherwise, get a load more stains and have an original Survival Camoflauge Kilt.

Pick up a Spray&Wash Stain Stick. Apply it heavily to the stains, on both sides where it shows through, and let it sit a day or so, then wash. That should take it out.

Infortunately the second generation Survivals don't have the nanotech, which is sad (that's why I got black to replace my sage). Durring the short time I had a first generation, I spilled enchalada sauce in my lap, and it came right out. I would definitely try Shout or Spray-n-Wash and let it soak for a while.

That's why I like the stain stick. You use it like a glue stick. Once you put the stuff on the stain you can toss it in the laundry basket and let it sit til laundry day, no liquid soaking needed. Works great and real convenient.

Sorry about the stain, but how did the friend's wife react to him in a kilt?

I haven't had the chance to really bring it up since, but I'm not sure she was so keen on it.

Okay, so I'm looking for help/ideas.

I added the stain remover stuff, and washed it again. Some of the stain came out but some remains. Obviously, I'm a bit miffed, and I'd really like to get my still new kilt stain-free. Does anyone have any ideas?
