    something nice happened

It's getting altogether much too heated around here, myself included. And so, I'm gonna tell you about something fun that happened the other day when I was wearing my kilt.

I supervise a mess of students in my job. One of them, a really nice young man by the name of Robert, plays in a Heavy Metal "Thrash" band (no accounting for taste :P ) here on campus. His band played on Friday at 5:30 for one of the local dorm's "Friday Get Togethers". I'd seen them at another local venue, but I had a few moments while some software rebuilding processes ran, so I went over to the dorm to give a listen.

So while, I'm there...and I'm the "old guy" with gray in his beard and no hair on top on the edge of all these 19-21 years olds, the volleyball that some folks were using rolled my way. I tossed it back and the students said "come and play!" Nawww, says I, "what would happen if I went up for a spike and my kilt blew up? All the girls couldn't handle it!"

"Oh, I can handle it!", says this pretty latina girl, and she give me "a look". "Yeah, me too" giggles her girlfriend, eating their barbecue'd chicken. I laughed. One of the guys playing volleyball says "the kilt is cool.".. and within about 60 seconds I was in the middle of it all with a mess of kids twenty-five years my junior, totally welcomed in, totally cool because....

    **I wore a kilt**..

......OK, well I have to admit, also because I knew the bass player in the band! :P

It was fun. I told a bunch of guys about utilikilts and USA Kilts and wrote down the URL's about twenty times.

    Wonders never cease.

A pretty lass sitting with her friends on the grass in White Plaza today saw me as I walked by and jumped up and ran over. She says "can I give you peanut butter kiss? I like kilts!"

I said ..."Well I like peanut butter and I like kisses, so sounds good to me." so I got myself kissed on the lips by a pretty girl today all because I'm wearing the Black Watch.

If I was 22 years old again, I'd think I'd stumbled upon the all-time hot girl attractant, becasue it it's turning out like this for ME, bald at age 47, I can only imagine what it'd be like for a young buck!

Wait a minute, OLDIES! By my calculations, and with a quick look at his gallery, Alan can't be more than 5 years older than me. I don't think of myself as a grey beard. Of course I shave my head so that you can't see any grey hairs, or how little hair I have for that matter. Hell, my wife is only a few years older than some of these girls you were mentiuoning.

Makes me feel like I robbed the cradle.

You are as young as you feel, and a kilt makes me feel pretty young.
