Excellant day at work!
Iwas supposed to have today off,but had to work a few hours.I had to go to Atlanta to to pick up some awning fabric. One of our clients is remodeling and having the old ones redone locally.(I'm not sure how I got volunterd into this).Anyway,I was at the upholstery store and they were busy. While wandering around I noticed they had a shelf of fabric marked clearance, five dollars. What caught my eye was a roll of Blackwatch tarten. After uncovering it I noticed the tag said Locharran,13 oz. 30 yards.Well, I couldn't pass that up even if the tag was wrong.I took it and the fabric I was picking up to the counter.I almost passed out when they told me five dollars was the price of the whole roll!I'm going to get some tarten samples and find out exactly what I have,it's definatly Blackwatch and wool.Definatly an excellant day.

Wow! What a steal!
Lochcarran is not a mislabel, it is, besides being a small community in Scotland, is a famous fabric mill. http://www.lochcarron.com/
You got the real deal, you lucky dog!

All I know for certain is that it's Blackwatch, wool and 30 yards, single width.I'm going to get some samples and should be able to confirm the weight.I don't how to determine if it is indeed Locharran or not.Either way,it's still an awsome find.I left a busisness card with my number at the store, and asked them to call me if they came across anymore tarten fabric.

What a find!!
I'll bet if you sent some of that to Kathy Lare at Kathy's Kilts you'd have yourself one fine hand sewn tartan kilt at a bargain price.

I have a kilt, tie, and cap all made by Lochcarron. They are a fine company and their fabric and products are some of the finest I've seen IMHO.
Now why can't I find deals like that! You did good! (30 yards for 5 bucks really good.)
Let's see 30 divided by 8 = 3.75 kilts or 30 divided by 4 = 7.5 casual kilts.
You could sell off some of that and end up with a free Tank in the bargain
