Piobaireachd
Friday night, end of a long hard week, sitting here catching up on what's happening, wearing my SWK Saffron, and listening to a new CD that came today.
"A concert of Piobaireachd From the 1999 Edinburg International Festival"
A week or so ago I came across a site called http://www.MusicScotland.com
I was looking up a reference to what was called, I believe, the great music or piob mhor for the highland great bagpipes. As I understand it, and I admit I'm not a piper, this genre of music is more of a lament, lengthly (6 to 9.5 minutes per selection on this CD) and is of a high level of difficulty for solo pipers.
Very relaxing. (It put my cat right to sleep!)
If anyone knows more about this style of piping, I'd be interesting in hearing your experiences.
Thanks,
Tom
