adventures in sporran making
Well, most of you know I've been digging for new black boots to wear with the kilt, and that quest failed. I decided that since I have great brown boots, I'll make a sporran to match them.
here are the results of my quest..
here are the first two sporrans I've made. The one on the left is obviously my first try. The one on the right is far superior in my mind, and will be worn once I get brown straps and a brown belt made up.
here is the front view. Notice the clasps. I hate snaps on sporrans, so I improvised with these. the base sticks through the top of the clasp attached to the sporran flap, and rotates to lock it closed. Very cool.

here is a close up of the closure on the sporran on the right. The three-pointed piece in the center rotates to lock the sporran closed. Far superior to any snap I've ever seen.

here is a pic of the sporran unclasped, to show how the closure fits together.

here is pic of them open...

and the back of the sporrans...

here is a pic of the right sporran with a pair of sunglasses inside to show the amount of room in there.

and here is a pic of the two sporrans and the sunglasses to show depth...

it was a trying process to start, but now that I've figured it out...I'll be trying several different patterns on the fronts, just to see what I can do!
Also, I'm looking for a volunteer to field test one of these for a week or so, and let me know how it works for you. Send me a PM.
