The power of the Cilt/Kilt

Thought I would let you know about two things that actually happened to me last night. Yesterday evening a whole gang of us went to see Lord of the Dance (similar to Riverdance). Its absolutely stunning by the way .. recommend it to anyone. When we got to the venue Elaine issued everyone with their tickets .. some went to the bar, some to the merchandise stalls etc. It was a sell out .. 3400 people and only me Cilted (that I could see).
When I eventually made my way in to the main arena I was in a queue about 20 back. Two guys taking the tickets off everyone. Suddenly this one ticket guy was beckoning me on. 'Go on through, I don't need to see your pass'. I said I did'nt have a pass but a ticket. 'So sorry' he said 'I thought you were an offical from the show'. He still offered to let me on through, but to be fair to those in the queue I went back to my place.
Then during the interval, as I came out of the loo's, this lady approached me from a group of people and asked me 'Could I tell if there was a place to go at the end of the show for them to get their programmes autographed by some members of the cast'. I told her I'm was nothing to do with the show and was sorry I couln't help her.
So I raise my glass to The Power of the Cilt/Kilt

I had some friends who saw either "Riverdance" or "Lord of the Dance" recently, and they recommend it highly.
As one man put it "A stage full of beautiful redheads with long legs. What is there not to like!"

We saw a similar show at the Chichester Festival Theatre last year, Derek, called "Magic of the Dance". That was 95% Irish dance in the style of Riverdance, but with a bit of Flamenco and one so-called Highland Dance thrown in for good measure. I just lurve that sort of show - having done the Highland and Flamenco things myself! Have never tried Irish dance though.

Did you know, it is rumoured that Michael Flatley (who got the whole Riverdance thing up and running) is responsible for putting all his male dancers in black trousers rather than the traditional kilts? Apparently, he would not have a kilt in any of his shows! Now all the other dance companies follow suit and black trousers are de rigeur. Huh!

as a fellow welsh c/kiltie i say nice job! Of course, you could have had a wee bit of fun with the last questioner.

That is truely strange that the Flatley guy didnt want kilts...perhaps he looks funny in a kilt and has too much ego to allow anyone else. What a shame though, just think how much more popular kilts could be now if flatley didn't have his weird hangups.

In the last Edinburgh Military Tattoo, there was one guy amongst the otherwiese all-female Scottish dancers. He was kilted. Flatley's influence certainly hasn't extended *that* far. :-)

Oh, and Bill Whelan, the composer, deserves as much credit for Riverdance as Michael Flatley.

I knew there was something not to like about that fellow - couldn't quite work out what it was until now.
