Greetings All,

I have enjoyed your helpful hints and advice from browsing the various forums. I have appreciated the good humor shared by all. I finally took the plunge and ordered a grey mocker UK from Utilikilts; a sgian dubh from the Scottish Tartan Museum (backordered for the last 3 weeks but I'm hoping...), and a Black Watch economy kilt, fly plaid, brooch, and flashes from the Celtic Croft. Still need to get a kilt pin though.

Now I just have to be patient and wait for it all to arrive by the post.

The question is if I'm brave enough to take my son to kindergarten dressed in my kilted finery? Hmmm...

I think it will be fun to explore my Scottish ancestry (clan Galbraith) here in San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley.

Ah, and I could not help but to notice that you did not mention ordering a sporran. You might need it for your Black Watch kilt. Enjoy!

I ordered a sporran through the Celtic Croft as well. From reading the forums on accessories I decided that a sgian dubh, a sporran, and flashes were essential. Thank you for the warm welcome.

One piece of advice from someone who is only recently kilted - the only way to start wearing a kilt - is to start wearing a kilt! Wear it anywhere - wear it everywhere. Jump in, the water is fine!
