Well, we arrived back home safe and sound. We've actually been home since the 27th, but life got in the way of posting my observations.

I spent all 8 days of our vacation wearing kilts. I didn't even bother bringing along a pair of pants for the trip. A few observations:

1. A kilt is the ultimate garment for a long road trip. I've never been so comfortable driving as I was on this trip. I wore my UK Original while driving. The only "problem" I experienced was on the way back home. We stopped for fuel in Shelby Montana and there was a 50-mph west wind. It's really hard to pump gas and hold a kilt down at the same time.

2. A kilt in Las Vegas gets a LOT of attention! No negative responses from anyone, but lots of admiring looks and smiles. As Irishrob pointed out in one of his posts, the cocktail waitresses seemed a little more attentive for some reason.

3. On a very windy day a kilt is NOT a good idea when walking through the pedestrian walkway at the Imperial Palace. Don't ask how I know this.

4. While walking back to our hotel from the Pirate Show at Treasure Island Wednesday night I managed to find the only large air vent in the sidewalk. Marilyn Monroe has NOTHING on me!! The hoots and catcalls from the people walking behind us were hilarious.

5. The Las Vegas Highland Games were a blast! We had alot of fun wandering around, and meeting up with the other Xmarks members made it all the more worthwhile. I only wish we hadn't missed everyone on Saturday night downtown.

6. I wish we had a Tilted Kilt restaurant in Calgary.

7. Whoever says you can't win at the slot machines in Vegas must be playing the wrong machines. (This is not directed at you, Ron ) Karen and I did VERY well on them, enough to pay for the entire vacation. I'm sure it was the kilts that gave us the luck, as we normally don't win a thing.

8. Craig Ferguson (TV host & comedian) is incredibly funny in person. We saw his comedy performance Sunday night and were rolling in the aisles with laughter. Mbhandy can confirm this.

9. Traffic along the Strip is a nightmare! I don't know what's worse, the drivers or the pedestrians. Walking or transit is a much better way of getting around.

10. The only negative comment I heard during our trip happened in Mesquite Nevada on our way home. We stopped at a casino there for breakfast and some yahoo yelled out "nice dress" from his car as he drove by. How original. LOL To make up for it I plunked $10 into a slot machine in the casino and promptly won $75.

All in all it was a fantastic trip, and we can't wait to do something like it again soon.
