    Sporran Revelation

So, I got my first sporran today. I had qualms about wearing one, I thought it would be heavy and feel awkward, and just look strange.

To my surprise though, it really makes the kilt look right. Really, I went from being fearful to wear one to loving it as soon as I put it on my SW Blackwatch.

I even tried it on my UnionKilt Corduroy. It looked good there. But that brings me to the question. What do you think about wearing a sporran on a casual kilt? Logically it seems a little redundant, what with the ample sized pockets on my UniKi casual.

    DtP,

I wear my Nightstalker sporran with all my kilts - UKs, Stillwaters, Pittsburgh Kilts, homemade X-kilts, USAKs, CCKs. I think it looks fine. To each their own.

Every kilt needs a sporran. Having said that with my Freedom Kilt i don't wear one, what with six pockets why would I? Contemporary kilts might not look right with traditional sporrans but a canvas one, SWK Nightstalker or fanny pack might bridge the look.

I agree a sporran seems to add balance to a Kilt. Now when I am doing yardwork etc. a sporran is not usually worn.

I always wear a sporran, a kilt just looks right with one. To each their own of course but I for one like the way it looks.

Sporran yes, the kilt look cries out for it, depending on whether you have too many pockets in the kilt.

I never go without a sporran. First of all, without it, people mistake the kilt as a skirt, and secondly, where would you put all of your stuff?

But you are right, sporrans are great. Last weekend I was in for a long drive to the highland games, and I went to the drive-thru to get a pop (soda, for all you people outside of Wisconsin). See, with pants, I would've have to scrounge around through my pockets, leaning over and dropping change between the seats. With a sporran, it's all right there in my lap!!!
