10 November was a good day.

The morning of 10 November arrived with a full set of activities. 2 PM, I was to attend an Installation Ceremony of the Order of the eastern Star. At this same time a surprize birthday party would start for the wife of a good friend, and later that night I would gather with some old comrades in arms at a local bar to celebrate the birth of our Corps.

I decked myself out in a dark blue, quality golf shirt, dark blue hose, dark brown belts, shoes, sporran and my beloved Leatherneck tank and flashes. I looked pretty good. I added a tweed argyll jacket for the installation, and removed it for the rest of the day's and night's activities.

My wife and I were on time for the installation, late for the birthday party and after I dropped her off at home, I was right on time for the gathering of old salts.

A full and enjoyable day. Good conversation, good companionship and I had to take a taxi home.

Why am I mentioning the above? During the entire day, at three very different venues, at three very different gatherings of friends and acquantances, not once was my kilt mentioned! No kilt check, no "question", nobody thought it unusual in the least that I was kilted. It was just accepted.

That was the icing on the cake.

    Just thought I'd share.

That is very cool indeed, after all it shows that those around you accept you for who you are, glad you had a wonderful day. Happy Birthday Corps.

As it should be. Glad you had a wonderful, if busy day.

Small world James. My late mother was active in the Oceanside Eastern Star until she became too demented and frail to continue.

Thanks for the tips on the leatherneck tartan kilt. I'm wearing mine tomorrow in our local Veteran's Day Parade and have been trying to resolve which color hose/shirt....had been thinking either black or red...now navy enters the fray....

Kind of a three day Vet's binge this weekend with the Corps birthday, Veteran's Day, and a postponed Parade on "governement" Veteran's Day.

Navy hose with red flashes. Is that not the colours of the Class A uniform?
