RHCP Bagrock to the masses review
Theres no doubting Stuart Cassells, Willie Armstrong & Kevin MacDonald are fantastic pipers
but.
anyway ive just had a listen and heres my opinion,
first off
the bad
we will rock you, smoke on the water ,eye of the tiger doesnt work and at times is cringeinducing.
Flower of Scotland, probably the worsed version ive ever heard. nice c natural though from the piper.
veryy poor production the pipes are awash with reverb/ delay and at times sound thin, (which is a shame as Stuart has fantastic tone!)
he guitar playing is average but competant.
the good
Dark Island : fantastic interpretation.
Voodoo Child : this really works
Auld Lang syne : punked up sounds great
Hey Jude/The Mason's Apron : hey judes cool, Masons apron: flawless playing from Stuart.
Your the voice : really good clever stuff
nice touches
Thunderstruck/Upside Down At Eden Court -2 Gordon Duncan classics nice tribute to Stuarts old Mentor bit overproduced.
not a bad album, The chillies are much better Live than they come across on the CD.
any thoughts??
