Last Friday I was playing pool with Corey, the fiddler from Hunting McLeod. Well the conversation turned to 10 years ago when we both served in the CG Aux. I had just watched the movie Waking Ned Devine and loved the movie, the soundtrack was just so phenomenal that I bought the CD. Knowing Corey was at the time a violin player I lent him the CD to see what he thought. A short time later Corey had to leave the Coast Guard and we lost touch for several years that is until I met the Al the Piper from HM at my work.
Fast forward to last Friday. Corey said that if it wasn't for me and that CD, Hunting McLeod would not have been formed. I'll take no credit for that although I'm flattered that he has remembered for that. I give all credit to that soundtrack. In fact HM did a cover version of The Waterboy's "Fisherman Blues" from the movie on their first CD.
It got me to thinking that this is one movie I should have in my collection so went looking for it. I ended up ordering it online. It's a very funny, touching movie with a fantastic celtic soundtrack. Being filmed on the Isle of Man, the scenery is also breathtaking. I recommend you track it down for an 90 well spent.
