    Surprize kilt.

My neighbor, two doors down, gave me a pretty nice surprize last week. She made me a kilt!!!

I have had her sew down the fell on three SWK kilts, and she sees me in kilts all the time. I'm her go-to person for help around the house and with her computer, so it's a mutual aid thing. -But I never expected a kilt.

Since she had only ever examined a low-end SWK, that is what she made. She got the fabric from some store that sells tartan fabric to girls schools, and I don't yet know what, if any name it has. It is pretty though.

It's obviously a synthetic blend of some sort, but heavy cotton content. It's also pretty light-weight. It's entirely machine made, and has a stiffener of some sort in the waistband with velcro to fasten it.... Like a clone of the low-end SWK - which is what she had seen before, and probably thought that all kilts were like that.

I have worn it twice and the rear shot shows that the pleats need to be pressed, but it will make a very nice summer kilt.

    Very nice James
Next time get her to move a buckle on a 16oz 8 yard. She might like to see one anyway just to see the difference. That was a wonderful gesture nonetheless and it looks great, I'm sure it will see you through may summers to come.

    Evil minds think alike

I could also show her Barbara's book........

But I am really amazed at this kilt, considering that she had only sewn down the fell before. I will cherish it in a special way....

Well, I cherish all my kilts..... aw, you know what I mean.

Lookin' good James! Whether the tartan has a name or not, a kilt made out of kindness and thanks is a mighty fine garment. ENJOY!
