So I've been trying to find a good non-leather kilt belt option, and have seen various discussions of some options, but I really wasn't seeing what I wanted. I'm almost ready to try making my own (with some vinyl/naugahyde I have), but in a recent bout of searching, I found some interesting things. I think some of these ideas have been mentioned, so my apologies for any redundancy...

So I was focusing on 2.25" wide, non-leather. Some of these, I think, could be modified to work like a standard kilt belt, but sewing throught the material may or may not be an option, depending on your sewing machine.

These first two look like they'd be the best match -- formal, very attractive, etc. But they're also the most expensive:

Some have mentioned these before -- these are much more economical, and maybe you could dye them to get black or other darker colors that de-accent the eyelets. I also thing this material would be easier to mod to accept a standard kilt buckle:

I found this on EBay, and it's expensive, but interesting because it LOOKS like it would be very easy to swap in a standard kilt buckle on it, and a hoop on the other side:

This says it's only 2" wide, but are economical, and look nice:

But this one looks the same, but says the "outer" belt is 2.25" wide, and has a second, inner belt

For the price, might not be a bad option to try out.

And finally this one, has the construction of a military pistol belt, but fewer eyelets, and again might be the easiest to mod, and possibly dye.

So after all that, I think I'm gonna try my DIY one first, and if that fails, I'll probably start with that one from "hardware and tools" or the one from major surplus n survival, and see how they go. If I get to any of this in the near future, I'll be sure to post my experiences.

cheers all!
