Macdonald of the Isles Weathered Hunting

Back when I lusted after a hand sewn kilt in this tartan it was near impossible to find a pic of this tartan made up into a kilt. Don't want other cousins to have that problem. So here's a few pics.

I like the unusual colors in the tartan. The tartan colors are very close to the multi colors in the Painted Desert just south of where these pics were taken.

Material is 16 ounce Lochcarron Strome. Kilt was hand sewn by Kathy Lare.

Here's a close up of the tartan. Note the huge sett of the white lines. That is 8 1/2" vertical 9" horizontal.

Pics were taken at Cedar Ridge, Arizona on the Navajo reservation. Those are the Echo Cliffs in the background.

Yeah, I know, have posted some pics of this tartan before, but don't think on this thread and don't think this clear of the sett.

When I selected the tartan for my kilt I looked at all the MacDonald of the Isles hunting as I had a close family friend give me a blanket in the modern colours as a wedding gift. We thought the ancient colours would look more striking when wearing to weddings and graduation. I think that the weathered one makes a great everyday kilt. Have you seen the Red version? I'm thinking of that for my next kilt. Either modern or ancient.

I love the weathered tartan. Looks great on you, I am quite partial to muted colors, but I did however just order an ancient hunting MacDonald of the Isles. Can't wait to get it.

That really is a lovely kilt Ron, I'd love one in that tartan one day.

    Ron,
The kilt looks great. As I look at your many posts of kilted pictures, I believe you are the States version of Ham, except you did sell off some kilts that no longer fitted you.....

Wow Ron great looking tartan! I am thinking of the MacDonald tartan that's listed as a sale item on the Burnetts_Struth website.

Ron - showing off the tartan is one thing, but tantalizing us all with a leather nightstalker sporran is just not fair!
