It's like discovering a whole new world of kilting...
I got my StillWater standard model kilt yesterday (ordered on Friday), and got a chance to remove the stitches and try it on properly today. I had ordered a thrifty from them before, and was satisfied with it, although I felt as though its value would have been greatly increased if the pleats were sewn down. There is a WORLD of difference between their thrifty and standard models, though.
Good lord, it's BEAUTIFUL! This is my first "8 yard" kilt, and it (with all due respect to SportKilt) blows my other kilts out of the water. Pleated to the sett, lined, with three buckles... it's awesome. If every step up the kilting chain is this drastic, I think I have a bright future ahead of me in pleasant surprises.
Thanks a TON to Jerry, who replied to an issue with my order within an hour of my initial e-mail. The kilt got to me in record time considering it was ordered on a Friday.
If you're thinking of getting a Stillwater Standard kilt and are on the fence about it, GO FOR IT. It's great, and an incredible value for the price. There are more in my future, no doubt about it.
It's so nice, in fact, that I'm afraid I WON'T be wearing it in the ring. So SWK thriftys and Sportkilts will still be the Celtic Crippler's in-ring apparel of choice for now.

That's good to hear. For some reason, I'm thinking you ordered a Nightstalker.
Anyway, congratulations.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Right on! The SWK standards are great, and for the price they are unbeatable (IMHO, of course). Which tartan did you get? Mine's an Irish Nat'l--I'll be gigging in it Saturday night. Woo Hoo!!

I just ordered from there last night, just a belt and sporran hanger, but still. I don't like the chain that came with my sporran. it already pulled a bit of fabric up, to my dismay.

Yep. I figured if I was going to get the full Stillwater experience, might as well get the Nightstalker while they had it in my size. The tartan is great, too, if I didn't mention that. It looks awesome with color, but I think I'll usually rock this Johnny Cash style.

The Irish National might be in my future as well. Great looking tartan, and unless you're getting it in wool StillWater's the only place to get it legit.
Nice stuff from your band by the way. Need some bigger group shots on the myspace, though. As an aside, in the world of professional wrestling the term "gigging" refers to bleeding profusely, so I was momentarily confused by your post. *laugh*

I haven't yet, although I know some people that regularly wrestle in Ohio. Wildman Rogers, Hank Calhoun, Jake Omen, and General Lee are all locker room buddies of mine, if you're familiar with any of them.

Let us know if you're ever in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Maybe there could be an impromptu kilt night.
I know there are several members from the area on here.

Thanks Celtic Crippler for upholding the manly kilted arts. Does your wrestling circuit have an online presence? Do you have an online presence? How can the Xmarks community show its support for you online?

I'm a fan of Stillwater kilts too! My favorites are my heavyweight wool kilts.
