I wonder if they make the kilts they stock themselves, or if they order their stocked kilts from other makers. I noticed some of the pictures of the 'ladies' wear' were taken from robertburnsstore.com. I wonder if that's where they got their stocked ladies' wear or if they just took the pictures and made their own kilts.

I didn't realize they made 16oz synthetic tartans. Those prices seem almost too good.

    Best regards,

On another board one of the owners, Mark Wright, says that they get their kilts from the same place that Stillwater does. "We actually supply some other stores with Kilts, Sporrans, and bagpipes....We sell kilts depending on weight (13/16 oz) from $43.21. We also will get tartans custom made and we carry tartans that others don't have."

    Exactly... made in Pakistan.

Although it looks like their pictures of WOMEN'S stuff is taken directly from Lochcarron's catalog (but the prices are WELL below WHOLESALE prices for Lochcarron).

For reasons of truth (i.e. "truth in advertising"), you should be able to make up your own minds as consumers. Here is the full response from Mark Wright regarding the origination of his kilts and his "support of the scottish community":

"Greetings. I am one of the owners of The Frugal Corner. We do not get our kilts from Stillwater Kilt. I am sure tehy get theirs from the same place we do. We actually supply some other stores with Kilts, Sporrans, and bagpipes. WE SUPPORT LOCAL SCOTTISH EVENTS WITH DONATIONS. We sell kilts depending on weight (13/16 oz) from $43.21. We also will get tartans custom made and we carry tartans that others don't have. Our kilts have three buckles and straps (even the lighter weight ones). I have not looked at the stillwater kilts (I believe they are most likley just adding a sewn in label to the kilts they purchase) but I think our would be as good if not better. Check out our feed back on ebay and as of today we have not had one negative comment. BUT Even if our products cost $2 more..we hope that our service and support of the scottish community makes it worth while for you to suport us.
    Mark Wright"

You can't get any extras though, like buckles and sewn-down pleats and fringe can you?

If it's made in Pakistan, I think that is reason enough not to buy from them. But can this be proven?

Also... the ladies pics are of Lochcarron's Women's products... here's ANOTHER company that IS a registered Lochcarron dealer:

    http://www.scottishlion.com/kiltedskirts.html

Notice the models are all the same? They're Lochcarron's pics on "the frugal corner" website, but they are NOT selling Lochcarron's products (unless they make it a habbit to sell the items for less than they buy them for wholesale).

Maybe you should ask to buy the EXACT LOCHCARRON DRESS pictured on the frugal corner's site and demand to pay their advertised price. It's below my wholesale price. Notice what these dresses SHOULD cost on the Scottish Lion's site.
