Live Thistle Blossom for Corsage in January?
Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted on here. I spent countless hours on here researching my kilt, and have been happily wearing it out and about for years.
I'm wondering where I can find some live thistle for some corsages and a buttonhole. I'm getting married later this month, and the bride and I would love to have some simple thistle corsages. I've been googling for hours, but haven't found anybody that will deliver live blossoms.
I'm looking for either some nice thistle corsages, or even just the thistle blossoms themselves which we can make into our corsages. Preferably looking for the nice purple scottish thistle of course.
Can anybody help me out with a suggestion of where to look?
Thanks very much in advance!
Craig
Edit: Found some! Thanks for all the helpful advice!

I would try your local florists. I work at a hotel, and do a lot of weddings. I've seen thistle in arrangements several times.
BTW, Congratulations!

I forgot to mention that I called a half dozen of the better florists around town and nobody had thistle in stock. I asked if they had any source on getting them, or any advice they could suggest for me to order it but no luck. The best advice I got from the florists (other than check out next to the highway and railroad tracks ) was to google it.
I tried several nurseries about town as well. Unfortunately thistle just isn't something people are buying, so the local folks have no experience with it.
If anybody has a line on anybody who has live thistle, I'd be happy to give them a shout. I don't mind spending some money to get it delivered, because it's awfully last minute.
Thanks,
Craig

This may sound silly, and it may not pan out, but try the florist at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.

Let me check with the florist we use where I work. He may be able to suggest a source. I should be able to get in touch with him tomorrow.

Would dried thistle work?

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Congratulations on the upcoming event.
Have you ever handled thistle? It's pretty nasty stuff for anything but looking, and making a boutonniere or coursage could prove dicy.
You can find some pretty nice artificial thistle online. I secured some for a formal event one time for the men to wear, and it was pretty nice. YOu can do a search.
You can also look here. $8.50 ain't bad for a
thistle boutonnierre

I'll second using artificial thistle. I encounter the real stuff a lot at work and it's beyond nasty to handle.

May I suggest
Perhaps a corsage of White Heather might be more appropriate for your wedding?
