Texas BLUEBONNET Tartan ?

I'm wondering the best (looking) way to make this kilt.
Pleat to stripe, sett?
I have enough material to do it with knife pleats or box pleats.
In your opinions what makes the best looking Texas Bluebonnet Tartan kilt?

If I remember Rocky's advice - try squinting your eyes and the stripe that jumps out the most may be the best to pleat to if your pleating to the stripe. To my eye that's the yellow stripe. However I agree with Shaun - this would look great pleated to the sett.

The one thing I have learned is to pay attention to our professional kilt makers. I know I have had some pretty strange ideas about kilt pleating that turned out to be almost unworkable. Heck who am I kidding - they were totally impossible! So listen to their sage advice and you'll be lots happier in the end.

I'll echo Phil quoting Rocky, and quote Barb as well - stand 6-10 feet back from the material, and see what it looks like. Pleat it a couple of different ways, stand back and take another look. Pick the one that looks best to you from that distance.

As for me - depending on the size of the sett, I would consider pleating to the wide yellow or the green for a box pleat or pleat to the stripe.

I've seen quite a few kilts in the great Texas Bluebonnet tartan, almost always pleated to the sett. A notable exeption would be the Houston Fire Dept. Pipes and Drums, who pleat theirs to the red line. When I ever get around to getting mine, it will be done to the sett.

Sett! It's a lovely tartan and you want to be sure people who pass you get a good view of it from all angles.

I think box-pleated to the dark blue stripes, with the light blue turned under, would look nice. That way, when you walk, the lighter color will "flash" between the pleats.

If you really can't decide, you should take some photo-editing software and do a bit of cropping and pasting. That way you can look, side by side, at examples of how this tartan might look (generally speaking) pleated to the sett or to different stripes. Pleating to the stripe might look pretty neat on this one with that lighter blue just begging to pop out and grab hold of someone's eyes.
