    A Formal activity

During my August visit to Scotland I'd like to attend some kind of Formal affair if possible. I like the idea of a collegial gathering where Gentlemen and Ladies attend a ???? - perhaps some kind of military or community affair

    Ideas?

Perhaps your clan ( if you have one ) is having a gathering at that time?

Perhaps if we knew where in Scotland you were going to be, that might help.

But you really should contact people in Scotland: clansmen, fellow Xmarks-ers, etc.

August is not a good month for formal events. Everything in Edinburgh is centred on the Festival. The Assembly Rooms - http://www.assemblyroomsedinburgh.co.uk/ - do have ceilidhs from time to time so you could check with them. There is also the Scottish Country Dance Society who hold dances regularly - http://www.rscds.org/ - and may have something suitable.

    Hi Jerry,

The Scottish Tourist Board is really touting Scotland at the minute here in the UK. There is an advert for Scottish holidays during prime time every day. The people behind the advertising are these:

    http://www.visitscotland.com/

Supposedly they cover the whole of Scotland and have information about events starting now through to Hogmanay.

    Regards

    Chas

I'll be in Edinburgh from the 10th thru 17th. I'm part of a tour group staying in town. Unfortunately the Clan Crawford Gathering is in July which I'll miss. Thank you all for your suggestions. /
