The Scotsman's Ball 2009
Saturday we enjoyed the second annual Scotsman's Ball, formerly the Clan Donnachaidh Dinner Dance (a 30+ year tradition in Southern California). Held at The Grand in Long Beach, this formal dinner dance features pomp, circumstance, patriotism, great food, the Single Malt Lounge, door prizes, a superb raffle. . . all this, and haggis too!
My sister Mary (one of the event organizers), my mother, and Mary's sister-in-law Marilyn

Piper Danny Burns bringing in the haggis

The raffle table (all proceeds support the clan's scholarship program)

Bob dealing with our 200 raffle tickets (!)

Josh escorted my great-niece Chelsea to the event. I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of Chelsea, who looked lovely -- and BTW, Chelsea just took 4th in SoCal and 12th in the state in intramural wrestling! This was Josh's first outing in a kilt and I think we have a winner here. . .

Dancing by Highland Fusion. . .

What a swell time you all look great. Kudos to Josh for cutting such a dash his first time out kilted.

So only the So. Cal Rabble are invited? The Nor Cal Rabble isn't quite as rowdy as you might think.

Cheers

My error in assuming that others wouldn't be interested. By all means, mark your calendars world-wide! It's near enough to Long Beach Airport that all your private Lear Jets can be accommodated And there are two hotels literally next door (although I make Bob drive us over, as I'm not willing to walk even that far in my once-a-year heels).

But does it have a mooring tower for zeppelins?
