Chance meeting at church
Yesterday as church was ending I was in the aisle, negotiating a cross-current of people, some headed for the main door and others headed for the social hall, my wife trying to head one way, my daughter the other (as usual). I noticed an older gentleman, arms crossed, eyeing my kilt. I had not noticed this man at church before; he was a touch shorter than me with a full head of gray hair and probably a few years my senior and was wearing a old but well-kept tweed jacket.
When he noticed me looking at him he said in a strong Scottish accent, "That's a fine kilt." I was surprised and was being pulled in two directions by the "girls" but I managed to stay put long enough to hear him say, "I thought about wearing mine." I simply said, "Do!"
He nodded as he turned to go his way and I was pulled mine (or I should say my daughter's) and he disappeared into the hallway.
I did not get his name, but will be looking for him next Sunday for sure.

Cool, hope that you get the chance to talk to him further next Sunday. Sounds like he could be an interesting fellow to get to know.

Just hope he wasn't a figment of your imagination! That would've been some sermon!
I bet that gentlemen has some pretty cool stories...not too mention some fine Scottish wear....

This just proves there's no such thing as a chance meeting at church.

I had a similar experience at church yesterday.
Yesterday, I was on duty at the contemporary service. Before the service the pianist, who is a paid musician and member of another congregation, spotted my kilt. "If I had known that you were going to wear a kilt, I would have worn mine!" So I encouraged him. I'm going to send him a link to XMTS, and call him the next time the rabble get together for a kilt night.
The more people see men in a kilt, the more kilts you may see.

More kilts at Church
I wear my kilt to teach Sunday school at my Church. I also practice for the Bagpipes before my students (Kindergarten and first grade) arrive. Now the Kilted in the congregation has grown to seven or eight fairly regularly. The disease has spread even further.

One of my wee lasses in her kilt, and with one of the spare plastic practice chanters that I brought for the children to examine.
Not only kilts, Pipes too!

Be ye our angel unawares.
If after Kirk ye bide a wee,
There's some would like to speak to ye,
If after Kirk ye rise and flee
We all seem cauld and still to ye.
The one that's in the seat with ye
Is stranger here than ye, maybe.
All here have got their fears and cares,
Add ye your soul unto our prayers,
Be ye our angel unawares.
