(Please check your measurements carefully to ensure that the kilt will fit you. A quick way to check your measurements is to take your waist measurement....for a kilt this is accross the stomach - approx 2 inches above the hips. Then kneel down and take a measurement from here to the floor to get the length).

Note:- The belts, sporrans and kilt pins shown in the pictures are NOT included in this auction.

Please Read….This May Save You Some Time and Money…..!

We are a small family business based just outside of Glasgow (Scotland). Our aim is to supply high quality, traditionally made kilts at affordable prices.

By keeping our overheads low, limiting the number of tartans available and working to a set of standard sizes, we are able to supply a range of quality kilts which are virtually indistinguishable from a made to measure product…..but at a fraction of the cost. Assuming you waist line permits, our kilts will last many years with minimal care ….!

As you will see from your search, most of the kilts listed here, are described as “5 yard, Lightweight, Casual, Rugby or Sports Kilts”, they sell from £1.99 to £49.99 depending on the day of the week. Some sellers offer a range of sizes, others claim their products are made to measure after you place your order, however, in my experience these products are cheap imports from India and Pakistan. Try to find a 5 yard kilt made by a traditional Scottish kilt maker….you will find that it will either be a ladies tartan skirt or a Childs kilt…..there is no such thing as a “Gents 5 yard casual kilt”….it’s a marketing myth. These imported kilts are generally made from approximately 5 yards of lightweight (8oz) mixed fibre fabric. They are loosely stitched, badly designed and the self selvaged edge at the base of this kilt is often rough and uneven. They may look okay in a photograph or when delivered, however after 10 minutes of wearing they are only fit for one thing…..and I think the dog deserves better….!

A well made traditional kilt will make you smile every time you wear it. “Scot or not” with every step you take you will feel comfortable and proud as you swing 8 yards of carefully pleated fabric. The aprons and kick pleat will be professional constructed so that no matter how energetically you jig your modesty will be maintained.

My advice to you as a potential kilt buyer is if you cannot afford that little extra to purchase a quality kilt, please do not settle for a cheap alternative….go to a hire shop and spend your money on something you will enjoy…..at least once.

Whatever your decision, I hope you enjoy wearing the kilt you select and thanks for keeping a wonderful tradition alive….!

    All the Best,

Fraser. (Please check my feedback if you are in any doubt about the quality of my kilts).

I like a nice short parade that ends at a bar.
