primitive sporran
It was raining this morning so after I ran some errands, I laced up a simple sporran. It won't put be causing any real sporran makers to go out of bussiness, but I like it much better than the $15 one I currently own.
The leather is from some old upholstry stuff I had in the basement, so it's a little on the light side as far as stiffness, but again, it's good enough for who it's for.

That's a fine piece of handywork there. Though I don't recognize the tartan you're wearing it with...

I think it must be one of those new floral print tartans. I like it, I like the sporran, but I am not so sure about the two of them together
In all honesty, I think the sporran looks great! Keep up the good work!

Nice. I wouldn't mind having one like that.

Great work. Wear it a while and see how it works, then make another.

The sporran looks great. I think the "tartan" is the Rose Weathered. LOL

If you wish to strengthen the leather then use white PVA woodglue and a sturdy fabric, cut pieces to fit within the sporan, and carefully glue then in place - pad the inside so the fabric is held against the leather as it dries, and be careful not to get any glue where it shows, nor to use so much glue that it oozes out between the stitches. A bag shape can be sewn or the edges left unfinished - the glue will hold it securely.
If you use the non waterproof type of glue the fabric can be damped, left for a while and then peeled off if replacement is ever required.
