Ceramic Bladed Sgian
4 inch ceramic blade, and the handle is Madagascar ebony carved with my FTL knot.

I am going to make a sheath for it this weekend, and maybe do a little more carving to it as well.
So, what do ya think?

Looks great! Your knot is a great design. If you make any changes, show us more pics! Cheers...

Looks great, and the ceramic will hold an edge really well, but I would worry that the blade may be too brittle to wear in the top of the hose, unless your sheath is very protective from accidental bumps and bangs.

I was wondering about the blade being brittle as well, until I saw some videos of "drop tests" done. The tip broke when dropped from 4ft, but it didn't shatter. It was also said that the edge could possible chip. I am thinking ( which I rarely do because it can lead to trouble) that If I take a blow to my leg that shatters it, it will be the least of my worries. The leather I plan on using for the sheath is some scraps of heavy duty latigo I have laying around, so I should have a fighting chance there.
Thanks for the input.

Very nice. Did you make the ceramic blank?

Oh no sir!!
I picked it up at my local Woodcraft store. They carry several steel blades and a few of these in different lengths. I had seen some obsidian knives somewhere and thought they looked cool and when I saw this blade I decided to give it a go.

Ya, those aren't typical alumina silica ceramics.
That's a pretty interesting idea; glad it came out well.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Thanks Ted,
I'll post pics when I get some oil on it and the sheath made as well.
