A very proud moment for me!

The official Commonwealth Games Tartan was designed by a young lad at the Secondary School I went to. And was premiered there!

Not everyone is happy about this lad, the Glasgow Evening Times printed the objections from the founder of the Scottish Fashion Awards, Tessa Hartmann, she is a fairly miffed lady
She says ' its a crying shame that a talented Scottish designer such as Henrietta Ludgate, Holly Fulton or Marc Ross were not given the chance to design the tartan. I think it embarrasing that the people behind this have missed such a big chance, we are trying to compete globally and i think it is really short sighted of them not to work with one of the young Scottish designers. Every one would kill for this chance. Who is interested in a tartan designed by a young boy from a school'
She rants on quite a bit. You just cant make everyone happy

Jimmy, please could you post a link to the above.

However, based on the above, I believe Ms. Hartmann has missed the point of what this competition sought to raise; awareness and involvement amongst the schoolchildren of Scotland of the Scottish team's participation in the up-coming Olympics.

Personally, I think it's a lovely tartan. I hope they make it generally available after the games has ended.
