    My first foray kilted

Well the kilt arrived on thursday and this weekend has been pretty much kilted all the way. It's an 8yd pv kingussie in MacLeod of Harris with one special requested feature.

    Here's some pics.

This is the pleats centered on a red stripe and pleated to no stripe to show the green and black.

This is me headed out to the beeyard.

    Walking back.

My wee lass and helper, Serah Ruth. The red and black are the colors of my usual work uniform and all she will wear at her request. She will let you know that she's a daddy's girl. I wonder how long before she asks for a kilt of her own?

The missus tried to kilt check me! I learned something this weekend about kilts from her. If this keeps up I'll either sue her for harrassment or Serah might have a little brother, I'll let you know.

Lighting the smoker. Really smashing looking fellow if I must say so. I must because no one else will. ;)

    A little pleat action.

A few of me working the bees. Seriously, this is how I really do it. I don't wear the veil or gloves unless the ladies absolutely make me do so.

My kilt pin was chosen to reflect my occupation as a professional trapper. I love fooling with beaver, amazing creatures.

Now for the special request. An under apron pocket with zipper, here's the zipper.

But not just any pocket. Look at how far I can insert my arm.

Here's the bottom of the pocket with the apron lifted. I wanted a large bag pocket hung from the top of the inner apron positioned so it rides just to the inside of my right thigh. This sucker has as much room as many sporrans and as my sporran has yet to arrive I was able to carry everything I would normally carry in my pants pockets (and I wear tactical pants with multiple pockets) in this single pocket. I love it and will not be without it on future kilts.

Looks great! I don't know about beekeeping kilted. Sounds like a challenge on Fear Factor.

David: Very nice kilt! Good looking accessories, too. Where did you get that handsome diced balmoral? And, those flashes?!

When I looked at the first picture, I didn't think I would care for the pleating style all that much, but in the next one where I could see the entire back of the kilt, I changed my mind. It looks really good, especially in the Kingussie style. Very impressive.

Nice pocket. I can only say it looks "handy".

The MacLeod Hunting is one of my favorite tartans and you wear it well. Thanks for posting the pictures. Of course my favorite is the one of Serah Beth. Can't imagine why your uniform is red and black, Bulldog.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

The whole kit looks great! Mackie balmoral? Looks like mine, and I love it... The kilt looks great! I have to know: where did you get the boots? They're awesome! They look like they're comfortable, and they go with the kilt quite nicely!

Yes, it's a Mackie bonnet. The boots are Florshiem gaffneys, Ive always worn florshiems in my "nice" shoes.
The garter ties I ordered on line, can't recall at the moment, they are loden/brick and seemed to go well. I am never really sure since I am red/green color deficient.
