The Clan Gunn
Are there any GUNN's on the board?
I love the history of this clan and I am proud to be a part of it.

Wilson from Aberdeenshire member of the Gunn Clan?
I am new to XMTS but my Wilson's are from Aberdeenshire. The reason I joined the forum was to try to figure out the history which was lost to us. I believe I am a GUNN clan member! I just don't know how to confirm it. 6 generations prior to me my ancestor Charles Wilson was born in Kinnethmont (1758), his son Andrew was the last born in Scotland (1780 Methlick) : the move to Canada occurred. I joined the forum to figure out Clan and Tartan so I could determine the "right kilt" to pursue. Hopefully I'm on the right track!

I bought a Modern Gunn kilt in a sale in Selkirk last March and am very fond of it. I was wearing it Co Sligo where I hang out a lot and was getting some funny looks (more so than usual when kilted around Ireland). A night or two later I saw a shop window in Sligo town displaying the uniform for the local Ursuline Convent - the skirt was in Modern Gunn. I don't wear Gunn around Sligo anymore.

My maternal Grandfather's family are Williamsons, who I think are connected to the Gunn Clan way back in the 1700's

From what I've been reading, the Clan Swan was assimilated into the Clans Gunn and MacQueen way back.
