    Tweed Kilts

I'm on the cusp of ordering a tweed kilt in the Marton Mills Cairngorme range and would value the opinion of those that own tweed kilts. How does it compare to a worsted wool kilt and would 8 yards be too much in the tweed. Some pictures of xmarkers modelling their tweed kilt would be great.

This is the tweed I'm considering

While tweed kilts don’t fall into my range of experience, I would guess that the weight of the material is very similar to that of kilting material.
Regarding the pattern, to my mind it looks like a tartan, and if I were buying a tweed kilt I think I would rather look at something that could not be mistaken for tartan.
But if it’s what floats your boat, go for it.
If I recall correctly there are pictures of tweed kilts here on X Marks, including one or two modelled by Matt Newsome.
    Regards,
    Mike

I've seen the tweed in question in person (along with their other "tartan tweeds") and I'm not a fan, though the cloth itself has a nice 'hand' to it. If you're going to do a tweed kilt, I would vote for a more "tweed like" material... either a window pane check, or a busy tweed pattern or a herringbone. Just my $.02

Well I've pretty much decided not to go for the tartan tweed. I have in mind a kilt suit now and I think I'll go for a more typical tweed perhaps a windowpane. Heritage of Scotland has a pretty good deal on their contemporary jacket and waistcoat and they offer it in the marton mills tweeds. The kilt I will have handmade by a local Kiltmaker. Rocky do you think the marton mills tweed will make a wise choice for what I have in mind? Do others have experience of this tweed?

    Cheers

Which? MM's "Cairngorme" range? Yes I do. I'm wearing a vest made from that range today and I'm pleased with it.

A picture with you wearing it would be nice if its possible. Actually, I might be wrong but I vaguely remember a picture of yourself here wearing a kilt suit.
