Took the plunge and went public in my kilt
Well as the title says I took the plunge on my day off work and went out kilted in public for the first time. I chose a smart short sleeved collared shirt (it's very warm for the time of year) and ventured into the fair city of Peterborough to deliver some paperwork to the town hall. Then I went for a walk round town.
I had lots of nice smiles and nods although I was a bit self conscious at first.
In the book shop a lady walked up and wished me a happy new year, later in the cathedral square a man stopped me and told me his grandad was a Scot and said well done for wearing the kilt which he thinks looks great to see. A man coming out of a pub shouted " Hey jock, happy new year mate" and a Lady said I looked really really nice. The Polish and Russian people seemed most intrigued and I know my photo was taken on the quiet. Lol.
All in all it was a very positive experience. Most people though didn't bat an eyelid. When my wife got home from work I told her and she had to laugh as I am a quiet, reserved type of guy and she didn't think I would make a solo debut as it were.
