Handwoven Midnight Sunrise Mini-Kilt
Hello!
This is my second kilt I've done following Barb T's TAOK. I deviated slightly from the book in two ways. The length is only 16" since my girlfriend wanted the length in between mid-thigh and knee and there is no rise. I know it may be a bit non-trad but the overall construction is the same as that of a traditional kilt.
I designed and registered the tartan "Midnight Sunrise" a little over a year ago and finally tackled weaving enough cloth for two kilts (a his and hers). The mini-kilt ended up being 7.3yrds (enough for 23 pleats). The remaining amount will be for my kilt (which is currently in the works - pleated to the purple stripe). The yarn used for the cloth comes to 6% merino wool (purple) and 94% lambswool. Below are some progress pictures and the final product.
