Gorgeous Black Leather Kilt on Ebay

Who made this kilt? We all know that the one Vin is wearing was made by Howie @ TFCK. Is this one a TFCK or a Union Kilt or a custom?

Sorry, I should have added that I have them made for me specifically for ebay sales. Nice quality and a resonable price. If anyone has a particular design or style they would like I could order a few of them. See my feedback in ebay regarding the quality of my items.
Best Regards,
Bill

I got one of these a couple of weeks ago; they're made in Pakistan, and for the price, not a bad deal. That said, there are a few things I don't like.
1) The kilt doesn't appear to have any hip-to-waist taper; the pleats begin to spread out immediatly under the waistband (especially if your beltline is substantially smaller than your hips) which means that by the time you get to the bottom edge, it's just a zig-zag line, not pleated.
2) (Full disclosure: I don't like box pleats) The auction page doesn't specify the type of pleats; they are box pleats. The pleats are roughly an inch deep; I say "roughly" because the sides of the box can vary up to ¼", from pleat to pleat...on a pleat that's only an inch deep. Also there's only four sets of pleats across the back, one down the center of each interior rear pocket, and two between the pockets.
3) It's two peices - front and back. The laces on the sides are the only way to close the kilt, no wrap-around closure - you have to step into it and tighten up the laces. There is some overlap, but with the light leather that it's made of, there is still a danger that a good breeze might cause an inadvertant exposure.
...on the other hand, if access in a private setting is more important than modesty in public... ;)
4) The page says "compare to Utilikilts". UKs have knife pleats - at least eight across the back, front pockets, and exterior rear pockets.
Like I said at the beginning, for the price it's a good deal, but it's no $700 UK

I'd be interested in knowing what you could do with knife pleats and a wrap-around design.

That sounds more like a skirt, rather than a kilt. Unless it has aprons, and a full wrap around design, I have a hard time accepting something with the label "kilt."

Perhaps it's just me, but I also have a hard time with someone who comes on the board just to list his wares he's selling on Ebay. You'll notice that this fellow only has 2 posts to his credit, both on this thread.

And something tells me that none of those pictures are of the actual product.

Hank,
Steve from Utility Kilts and I had a problem with a gentleman using our product photo's as their product when advertising leather kilts on ebay. It is an unfortunate practice making it hard for the consumer to make an educated choice. Both Steve and I reported the problem to ebay and fortunately, ebay removed the product. I hope it isn't the same company that we had problems with. Buyer beware.
Thanks Iolaus for the in depth review, very helpful to those wishing to buy a leather kilt, to know what they are getting for their coin.
Cheers
Robert
