    Kilted in Vegas

The first of a number of threads regarding my recent trip. Anyway, I was in Vegas Tuesday through Friday last week, and kilted except for a single exception. This was a company conference, so I was "exposed" to many people who had never before seen (or known) that I was kilted. This included the CEO of our division. Now, he did know that I wore a klt and did work in his division (kilts are still really pretty scarce in corporate America), as I am sure that he was at least notificed when I decided to go full time last year. Now an interesting note is that he was the CFO prior to becoming the CEO, and the person I work for reports directly to the CFO. The current CEO (former CFO), is very much hands on and interested in his people, so knew my predecessor well, and was interested in his replacement. To my joy and satisfaction, when I approached the CEO at the conference to congratulate him on 30 years of service to the company, he knew me by name! I was not looking for any recognition and was only congratulating him on a great career. To have him recognize me without any introduction, and for any reason, was a bonus! Long live the kilt!

The CEO's boss, and his boss, were also there, and there were no problems with the kilt whatsoever. Even when we sang "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett. But that is another story, as are the Kilted in a Cab and Kilted with the TSA stories, but they are for later. Time for me to go to bed.

Ain't it a relief when the top honchos are at ease with kilted team members?

Says a LOT about your choice of people to work for. Good for you KCW.

I'm happy where I am, but if I ever interview again it'll dang sure be kilted 'cause I don't wanna work for anyone that would restrict such a basic freedom.
