    Smile Great response

I teach at a community college in Sacramento, American River College, and since I'm kilted every day the people in my area have gotten used to me wearing a kilt. When I go across campus it is a different story. I was walking across campus and looked up to see two African American students walking toward me wearing the usual sagging jeans with ball caps (bills to the side). They were distracted until I got close, whereupon the first student noticed the kilt and commented "Hey man, nice kilt, that's tight!" which woke up his friend who had been checking messages on his cell phone, who commented "Oh, hell yeah" in a voice reminiscent of Barry White. Great response, great delivery. I can still hear his response in my head "Oohh, hellll yeahhh".

It's good to see a little reverse cultural diversity awareness going on.

I knew you were in Davis, but I didn't know you go up to Sacto to AR!

Those are my old stompin grounds...(I grew up in Orangevale). My family is still out there, and I was there in June.

AR is a nice CC, I went there for a semester, but that was ages ago...('77).

Great to know there's a kiltie on campus!

A most refreshing account of the youth coming up these days. Thanks for the lift and reenforcement in my own beliefs in the youth that will grow to be the leaders in our future. I hope their fashion sense catches up with common sense!!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

I attended a house warming party of an old friend and his wife last saturday. They have two sons of teen age years and there were quite a few of their friends there also.

My friend is black and it happened that I was the only white person at the party and also the only kilted person but I didn't get one negative reaction and got a few compliments on the kilt. It was never refered to as a 'dress' or a 'skirt' once.

His mother, a very elderly lady, came to me and said; "You look sooo nice!", that was the best compliment I have ever had.

Thats cool . . . the very first time I wore my kilt to work, about five years ago, I was in a class for work . . . one black lady who saw me in the break room went on and on about how nice it looked, and asked all sorts of questions about the tartan, etc.
