A Question from my wife...
Hi everyone, my husband has been telling me about you all for a while, I finally made him let me ask you for some advise. When he is all got up in Scottish regalia, even if the kilt is a Forest Green Canvas kilt how do I keep him from out shinning me? I do not mean that I want him to not look his best, just how do I look as good as him? What do I wear at the Highland games? We are hosting a booth, and I want to look good too.

Go buy or make yourself a matching kiltskirt .Then you can have that swish to lol!

You certainly can wear a kilt skirt and look great in it. Get a skirt that "works" for your figure and attitude. You can also do things with a tartan bodice, or if you like period clothing you can find all sorts of spectacular tartan things.
The truth is that no matter WHAT you wear, the person inside the clothes will be seen.
I t hink it's time for some links to pics of some of my favorite stunning tartan bits and bobs for women. Wear these and I guarantee you will be noticed.

I saw a woman in this (different tartan) at the woodland Games and it about knocked my socks off.

Aye, the matching tartan dress, tartan skirt, or tartan min-skirt would do it...or even a different one. The jobbers of things Scottish seem to sell a lot more to the ladies than to us kilted gents.
There area also tartan capes and shawls and tams.
Get thee to a Highland games and check out the ladies in tartans and the vendor booths. Your SLC games are coming up soon - June 9th. Go! You'll figure out what works for you in short order.
And, there are all those feminine cut "kilt inspector" type t-shirts...many of the t-shirt vendors at Highland games have t-shirts for the lassies too.
Or Google up your clan website and check out the photos of what the clan ladies are wearing. Or wander the clan tent area at the SLC Highland games and observe what the ladies are wearing and if any of it works for you - go for it!

If that one is a bit much, how about this? I'd give blood to get the Luminous Joan into a NacNaughton top like this, and you can wear it with blue jeans or shorts or with a dress..

Here's a nice shift, or summer dress made in tartan.

If these are all too flashy for you, then something along these lines....tartan vest, simple skirt, simple white blouse, work very nicely.

Feeling dramatic?

These are some of my favorites. The Tartan evening dresses are heart-stopping, if you ask me.
At any rate, this website has a lot of pictures and will give you ideas:

The prices are not cheap! Brace yourself. However, don't forget that Rocky and Kelly at USA Kilts make kilted skirts. so do some of our other vendors.

Also, if she likes a more Renaissance sort of look, there are about a million places that do skirts, blouses and bodices.
Here's one... Bodice goddess
http://www.bodice-goddess.com
There's a local woman here...hangs out at the Campbell tent who usually puts together a white renaissance blouse, a Campbell tartan bodice and a solid color cotton skirt and she looks *great*. Cutson-made bodices might go for $75 plus the cost of the material. A bazillion places sell the blouses and skirts.
