    Utilikilts of the Carribbean

Went to see the new Pirates movie Friday night. Cool movie. Not what this post is about.

Before the movie, my date and I went to a beer and wings place for a quick drink and wings (duh) and I was wearing my black Workmans kilt. Walking through the bar to a table and heard a man at the bar with his girlfriend say "Hey that's a utilikilt!" So I stopped to see if he had one, but sadly he doesn't own any kilts yet. The SO didn't seem to thrilled when he mentioned getting one. We talked about them briefly but didn't have a chance to get his name, but did encourage him to check them out.

Later while exiting the restroom a guy stopped me and said "I've gotta ask, what's the deal with the kilt?" I said "It's comfy and chicks dig it."

Then he asked if I ever competed in the local highland games, so we had a nice quick conversation about that.

A good night overall. I recommend the movie.

Well done. I'm planning to wear my black Workman's to a local pirate fest, paired with a knotwork skull and bones T-shirt.

    Best regards,

Pirate Fest looks fun! Too bad it's the same weekend as Father's Day and the Campbell Highland Games. Arrrggghhh!

Yeah, it was funny walking past everyone in line to go in (I prebought tickets- yea me!) and all these high school kids were kind of unsure what to think. I like to believe the girls were checking me out, but I'm seriously doubting that.
I also had on my black "Built for a Kilt" T-shirt so at least they knew what to call it.

Though I have found it's fun when a young punk starts to snicker, to just give them the evil eye and watch them shrink and try to disappear. They don't scare me, I've raised a teenager!

Very nice. I've had roughly the same thing happen to me more than once. One kid sniggers and several others give him hell over it because they think the kilt is cool.

I just wore my X Marks tartan kilt and an appropriate Pirate Flags shirt and Jolly Roger hat to the movie.

I actually had the cashier and ticket taker compliment the kilt and ask me about it. I passed along the appropriate info.

The movie is good, but I like the first more.

The first was the best. This one was good but at times it felt like they were just trying to stretch it out.

There were some kids running around with pirate hats on. I started to snag one but decided against it.

What do you mean? I thought everyone dressed like this:
