Hi all,
I have finally worked out my teaching schedule next semester that I have lecture classes Monday and Wednesday, and hands on practical classes Tuesday and Thursday (and meetings and prep on friday). There is no way it would be prudent for me to wear a kilt Tuesday and Thursday, as Technical Theatre (the subject I teach) involves lots of time on ladders (and even in a college setting -- that is not the kind of education I want to give them). Anyway, even my lecture classes tend to be a bit messy (we paint in class, use pastels etc. -- gosh I sound like a Kindergarden teacher), anyway, I have a utilikilt, which is fine for class (but I only have one and at least the one I got was a bit more money than I have at the moment). I have the kilt I built for my wedding-- not wearing that to class (I will be very upset if that one is ruined). And I have the quite expensive kilt I had handmade in Scotland.

What I'm looking for is recommendations on decent looking kilts that are either very washable, or look good but are so inexpensive I won't be too upset when a student spills purple dye all over it (which I have found to be the most staining dye color). I ended up having an Emergency room visit, that was not nearly as insurance covered as I had hoped, and I'm in the process of moving, so I don't think I have time to make a couple of new kilts for myself. I'd love some group recommendations --

If they are sturdy and washable -- I could probably afford about $200 per kilt, If they aren't washable, they need to be less than $100. I just know with lead time being what it is I need to order the kilts for work soon if I have any prayer of being kilted this semester on the days I can be.

Thanks a bunch for the advice!!!

Cheers
Chris
