Finally done it
I have just ordered a mapleleaf tartan casual kilt from CCK. I need it for the first week in October and Pete says it will be here by then. I can't wait.

Woo Hoo! The maple leaf is a stunning tartan and I have seen Pete's work on other kilts. You will be a very happy camper when you receive it.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Maybe off topic?
As a relative newcomer, what is the origin of the term Jonesing, for waiting in great anticipation (apparently not always patiently!)?

The Maple Leaf really is a nice tartan. Glen, you wear it well!
"Jonesing" is taken from contemporary language (not so much lately) with a meaning akin to an addict needing a fix. Smokers "Jones" for a cigarette. I don't know the etymology.

That's it. Something we all go through when waiting for a kilt in varying degrees.

Jonesing is just craving...shakes...tremors...seldom progesses to full blown withdrawal seizures.
Antidote is shopping for kilt accessories while waiting for the kilt. Gotta have a kilt pin ready for the new kilt. Gonna need a new sporran for the new kilt. Gonna have to find the right colored shirt to go with the new kilt. Might even need new color kilt hose or a shinny pair of new shoes for the new kilt. Maybe a kilt jacket.
If shopping for kilt accessories isn't enough to medicate the jones then order some more kilts. Insure the supply so to speak. If you space your ordering out and keep ordering kilts then after your new kilt comes in and you get past the original high from it and it starts to seem sort of boring then you'll have another kilt arriving to give you a new high.
And hey....that Maple Leaf tartan gonna be in wool or PV??

Wiktionary has refs going back to 1965 of "Jones" as slang for heroin.
Also "Ed Boland, in The New York Times, March 2002, attributes the term to heroin addicts who frequented Great Jones Alley in New York City between Broadway and Lafayette High School. . ." although that smacks (sorry) of urban legend.
Other Wiki refs show its slide over time into general usage as seen here on XMTS.
Only thing I truly Jones for is a winning lottery ticket!

McMurdo, you're the second person I've seen with sporran bearing a tartan flap (both of them happen to be Maple Leaf). Where are you finding these? Have you seen anybody try a DIY version? Looks VERY sharp! [/hijack]

Is that a 8yard or a 5 yard?
