Wives and their husbands in a kilt

Close to Christmas, sitting at the computer with the early darkness outside I am thinking back on our summer holydays last August and especially one incident comes into mind.

My wife and I spent a month in Switzerland close to the Italian border. Due to the fact that she, even if she fully accepts my kilt wearing in public, seldom want to be part of it AND that we had an extremely hot weather I would not be in kilts all the time.
However, every morning I would go out on my own for two-three hours wearing one of my kilts. I would walk through the park and along the lake. I would go up in the hills or stroll around in the town. I would do some shopping and come back for a late breakfast. Depending on our plans I would then change to shorts, or I would go back into town for some hours kilted.
In this way I had thirty days with absolutely no negative reactions to my kilt wearing, be it in Utilikilts or tartan kilts, rather on the contrary I should say; but now to the incident.
One morning during the last week of our vacation my adorable wife phoned me and asked where I was, because she wanted to join me on the walk. I reminded her that I was wearing a kilt.
    - It’s OK, she said and half an hour later we were walking along the asphalted path between Lugano and Gandria, hands in hands (you never grow too old for that).
I told her of a Japanese woman who one hour earlier had addressed me and told me how good I looked in a kilt.
I could see that my one and only doubted it could be true. Nevertheless, no two minutes later a younger couple came walking against us. In order to pass, I and the other man walked ahead of our wives.
We men exchanged the usual “buon giorno” and then I recognized that his wife, who was a really beautiful looking and expensively dressed young lady slowed down and then stood still for a few seconds. She smiled at me and pointed to my kilt, saying: - It’s nice, really nice!

    - Thank you, I answered. No doubt, shat she seriously meant it. As soon as she had passed by I looked back at my wife and I could see that she was really taken by surprise. And then, when the young couple was out of earshot, she burst out into a laugh:
    - But it’s true! Now I know why you want to wear a kilt. It is not because of comfort but because you seek the admiration of women.

Whatever the reason: For the remaining days my wife accompanied me on my morning walks - with me in a kilt.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Once more the power of the Kilt comes to the fore. You scored twice, once with the couple and again with your wife. Great job!

She was probably afraid to let you out by yourself after that reaction. She was guarding her turf.

I would have to say that this is a major reason why I wear one. Certainly not the first nor only reason, but a pretty significant one. Of course, I am shallow, cheap and easy!
