kilted advantages
My wife and I decided to dine at a local resturant tonight which is operated by and Englishman and his Irish wife. I have lunch there once in a while, usually kilted, and always am welcomed by the wife. Her husband is the head chef and I rarely get to see him. Whenever I show up un-kilted, she gives me grief. Anyway, tonight is was crowded more than usual, and upon arrival we were greeted warmly but warned that all the diners there and to come had reservations. They were turning away people the whole while. But, for the kilt, she soon found us a table and provided the good service and wonderful fare they are known for. Without the kilt it is unlikely we would have gained admittance! My wife even commented on this to our elder daughter who joined us a little later.
Just one more reason to wear a kilt out!

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

People buy me drinks in person and anonymously for wearing the kilt. Chipotle (the burrito/taco joint) comped me a meal once after they asked me about my kilts.
The kilt: it's the new gift card.

Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I was sitting in a bar not long ago, and the barkeep brought me another drink (I was drinking Dewars, as that's the best they had) and I told him that I hadn't ordered another drink.
He said that it had been purchased for me. When I asked "Who bought it?" he turned to point the people out and then said "Oh, they left."
Secret kilt admirers?

Great story! Sounds like I need to wear my kilt out more since nothing like that has ever happened to me. But if the kilt attracts admiration, interest, and free food and drink. . . . what more could you want?

Disadvantage- I had someone start up a chat at the urinal today when I was at lunch. Creepy... Oh, and sitting on hay bales isn't all that fun. Otherwise, there are many, many advantages!

Wow, Chipolte?! I've never received anything free at a restaurant (other than the occasional affirming nod or compliment). I've got to wear my kilt out more...

There's a local place called Pizza Bob's that has tasty and delicious milkshakes, and I was getting one for me and my sweetheart. The guy behind the counter had said the usual thing about how he always wanted to wear the kilt but never had the courage.
Anyway, when I paid, he winked at me and only charged me for one. It was pretty subtle, I doubt my girlfriend even noticed. I thanked him and told him that wearing a kilt isn't a big deal, it's all about wearing it the first time.
I guess all the free stuff you get is to offset the high cost of the kilt?
