Am I authorized to wear a kilt?
so I emerge from the office, walking down the hall and I hear a voice saying "Now that's what I like to see."
And I turn, and here's an attractive lass walking towards me from out of the auditorium.
"So what I want to know is what's under that?"
OK, right, THAT questions again... so I say, "Shoes and socks, silly." To which she replies, 'that's not what I meant"....so I come back again..."lass I've got all sort of good things under my kilt".
*eyeroll*
Not flustered in the slightest, she asks me if I'm authorized.
"Lass I am in fact definitely authorized, by right of birth, to have all sorts of good equipment under my kilt."
Come to find out that in fact she was born outside of Glasgow, though has lived in the USA and was firmly convinced that if you weren't of full Scottish ancestry, you weren't authorized to wear a kilt. So instead of being antagonistic, I mentioned that I wear them to work 3-4 days a week, which floored her...and that this one I had on today (Gold Brothers Scottish National trashmo kilt) was a cheapie. In fact I had several nice ones, all of which I had made myself.
From "are you authorized to wear that?" to...."wow, you make them yourself? amazing! cheerio!"
It was kind of surreal.

Ai caramba... Oops that was left over from that other thread. Hopefully you have found a new friend, Alan.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Good story Alan. Shows how to diffuse what could have been a confrontation. Well done!

Seems like the glimmer of an idea there.......a kilt wearers authorization! But who would issue it? or have the authority to sign it?
