I've been asked, "aren't you cold?" a number of times. I usually just say "yes". It's funny how many people don't have a reply after that.

'No, I have 8 yards of wool wrapped around me, that's more than your cotton jeans and your acrylic hoody, aren't YOU cold?'

Ain't that the truth! I am AMAZED at what some of the hip-types are running around in in this weather...un-firickin'-canny! The triumph of "style" over common sense. It's not like fashion isn't so eclectic these days that anybody with a little imagination couldn't figure out how to bundle up and still be "groovy" but I guess that you just ain't cool if you don't look like you're indifferent to the fact that you're succumbing to hypothermia. I suppose that the theory is that all you have to do is manage to be able to make it from Starbucks to Starbucks and you can keep warm...sort of a relay station thing.
One of our running jokes is to sight one of these gaggles of hip-ly dressed young people and say, "...oh, look...it's the cast of RENT!"
Honestly, though, I rely on the "eight yards of wool" line...once in a while my knees take a bit of a hit but other than that, I'm usually fine.

Yes, I'm freezing! That's why I want to get a kilt!

agreed, yesterday, with the mini ice/snow storm we had, there were several street accidents, and I witnessed one where a very attractive 'platinum blonde' was standing by the sidewalk waiting for the police to arrive....and it was comical to see her bracing herself, shivering in the 22 degree temp.....but boy she was dressed HAWT. tight designer jeans....and a tight t-shirt with one of those long sleeved shirts underneath.
She looked hot...but she was freezing her round **** off... no sense at all!
Anyway, auld argonian, also agree about the prevailing sense of style in people...yet so many fail to aknowledge how cool it is to go out wearing a nice kilt, with nice hose and a super nice merino wool argyle sweater to boot. And a beard...man that look rawks.
Yes, only because I was wearing it yesterday, LOL
