    Calana Crafts hose review

I recently purchased my first pair of expensive hose. I always used to swear that spending even $25 dollars for a single pair of socks was lunacy, but I have to say that these are worth every penny!! (paid $50 in the for sale section)I haven't had a chance to take any of my own pics, so I'll repeat hers.

    http://calanacrafts.blogspot.com/200...ilt-socks.html

They are supremely comfortable. The yarn is as soft as a baby's behind, and has enough stretch that I think I could keep them up without garters, if I so chose. Her measurements are perfect, which is amazing considering they were not made for me originally. My only complaint is they are a bit tall, so I have to roll them over a tad more than would be ideal, but this is VERY minor, again, due to them not being custom made for me. Not the least bit a real problem. The cuff pattern is very attractive!!

Well, I may be hooked. I won't be able to spend this kind of money on hose very often, but I have to say when I do, I will likely go to this lovely woman rather than getting a manufactured product. My hose even came with a Christmas card, and gift wrapped in holiday paper!!

Thanks for supporting an artisan like Joan. If you got those hose for $50, you got the deal of a lifetime. Other threads here have dealt with how to price handknit hose. I know it seems kind of expensive at first, but just like any hand craft, you know you're getting something that will last practically forever, and it's something that a very talented person has invested a lot of time and skill in.
Congrats on the purchase. Now you need some other colors, too!

I constantly hear the lament that "they don't make ________ (fill in the blank) like they used to. My reply always is, "Of course someone does, but you are not willing to pay for it like they used to." That is why my next kilt is going to be a hand sewn tank of 16oz wool. If you want something that is a perfect fit, quality made, be prepared to pay for it!

    temptation?

Hand-knit kilt hose are not meant to be tempting, because temptation is usually something to be resisted. The deisre for h-k kh MUSTbe indulged. If Joan's too busy to make them, there are several others of us here who can provide them, although I can't promise we'll work for her price.
