Price for used PC
Here in Phoenix we have several Kilt rental places, and I am looking to attain a used PC or Kilt Jacket for a spring cruise. Two places want me to come in to see their wares. What is the going price for a used rental? I know at Kiltmart new lower quality is $159, which works for a once or twice wearing. But being a Cheap SOB I want the lowest cost.

Being a cheap SOB as well, I wanted a PC quickly, but not spend $$$$$$. I ordered one online (after first checking the return policy), but wasn't happy with the fit. So I went to Kiltmart and found one that fits very well. I took my wife along to give the seal of approval. The advantage of living in PHX with Kiltmart is that you can see and try on before buying. Given that it will not be worn frequently (like at the Burns Dinner next Friday), I believe that it will be very serviceable for a long period of time. When it comes to buying an Argyle, I'll look to invest more.
If you go to the rental places, you will have a point of comparison. I too would be interested in knowing what the going rate for purchase of a used rental. At least in PHX we have some options where we can see the goods first hand.
Where are you located in Phoenix? There are a group of us in the NW Valley that get together regularly at Lis Doon Varna, and other assorted places.

I just picked up a used rental tailcoat which I plan on turning into a PC off of ebay for $40. One thought for you.

I just looked over at the page of the piper my mother hires from time to time because he also rents kilts and PCs. He doesn't have any used PCs listed... however, the price for a new one through his store does look pretty good.
I'll have to keep that in mind since I do know him.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Last year I picked up my Braemar and Waistcoat from Hector Russell in Toronto, it was an ex-rental as I already had a PC I was not interested in another, however the price was $99.00 for the jacket, the waistcoat was extra.
Here is my review of it

As I understand it, the rental price of a garment is 1/5 of it's retail value (which is more than it's wholesale cost). Anything being sold on by a tux rental shop has been paid for several times over. That being the case I wouldn't pay more than twice the rental price for a used Prince Charlie coatee.

I got my first quote from the rental store, $259 for an used PC and $379 new.
If I read what you guys are saying I might just see if I can find a used crop waisted tux instead.

If you want to go that rout, then the Spencer Waist Coat from Worldwidetuxedos is an option. These were covered in another thread and seem to work fairly well after a button change. They're real wool.
In fact, here is a link to that thread:
