    Sporran 'faux' pas?

I am good at a number of things, one of them is being able to make use of existing materials. Upcycling and recycling are my thing.

This is a short story of how I turned a CD case into a sporran.

I had a cd case that while in good condition on the outside, the pages were a mess and falling apart.

After ripping all the seams, I got my pile of goodies and evaluated my options.

I discovered that If I cut carefully, I could make a 'Rob Roy' using the pattern that I found somwhere on these boards. I drafted a pattern in illustrator, and set to work.

    loops on the back

    the bottom and sides

    and the finished product.

Beginning looks good. Waiting for end product.

PS: try to post smaller pics. They are to big and need scrolling.

    Good luck

That is quite clever, and a good looking result! But how many CDs does it carry?? LOL

This looks great. I was looking around for a "sporran kit" to put togeher and stain. I thought it might be a lot of work. But somehow you made it look simple. I'm going to start looking around for an unused piece of leather. I guess all leather bags, whether they be CD case or not is just a sporran in the waiting.

Very nicely done...you gotta love it when you can keep things in circulation.

Thing is, It's not leather at all. this sporran is 100%synthetic, from the polyvinyl 'leather' to the nylon cording.

    I do so love it.

If anybody wants the template I made/used, it's very simple, just let me know.

Whoa, congrats, man! This is an amazing post. Seriously. Here I am trying to get all nice pieces of leather, etc. That is a great sporran--I'd be proud to wear it any of the highland events. And you made it from a c.d. case?!

That sporran is truly an inspiration to all DIYers
