Is XMTS a better place with no Panache?
It's true that XMTS is, perhaps for want of a better word, duller than before. Some say it's lost it's panache, a few others say it's because it's lost Panache.
I'll address the first concern. Because this forum has changed quite dramatically over the last few months it's not the place it was before. Changes take time to readjust to. Things we were used to may never be the same again. The future potential though, is what we make of it.
The second point I addressed is not the panache defined by Funk & Wagnalls as;
–noun
1.a grand or flamboyant manner; verve; style; flair: The actor who would play Cyrano must have panache.
2.an ornamental plume of feathers, tassels, or the like, esp. one worn on a helmet or cap.
3.Architecture. the surface of a pendentive.
but rather a pith helmeted, gin soaked gentleman incapable of writing fiction with any element of truthful fact in it. For those new here he was the one that not only coined the term "Ladies and Gentlemen of XMTS" but also by virtue of example, showed what it meant. Some interesting topics, flaming out of control were reigned in by his gentle finger wagging, so yes, XMarks of today is a boring place because of, by some small part, Panache! I for one are glad that he is no longer around, I can now pick on a "Traditionalist" like Jock Scot (not to mention any names) without him saying "Now, now Grant. Apologise to Jock for saying flat caps have no place being worn with kilts"! Generally I chose not to acknowledege this Panaches existence on XMarks and with him gone it makes my time here easier. I think not having to read his self-absorbing, meandering posts makes everyone's live here easier.
So just for fun, let's do a poll and ensure that the name "Panache" never darkens the hallowed halls of XMTS again. Who's with me?

Grant, Grant....
I've noticed that threads that "poke the bear" just seem to get ignored by less confrontational members, as well as the bears in question. Or get "removed for moderator review" never to be seen again. Why bother
But to answer your question, No, XMTS is not better place with no Panache. ith:

I for one miss his wisdom, wit and wackiness, but we have enough of the latter still here in the person who started this thread. But it is a different place for the lack of many who have stepped back from previous prominence, not to mention you yourself Grant. The forum started small and grew over time to what it was and is, and like an ornamental bush after autumns pruning it may look a bit thin and unsightly only to grow new leaves as the spring turns to summer and lush rich new foliage and blooms take over.

Secondly, with the above quote from your OP demonstrating your gross lack of knowledge of proper grammar and a grasp of the English language in general, I would hope that you would never darken one of my posts with your misguided "spelling corrections". Shall we call it even now?

After Panache left, I thought there was not going to be any of the staff left to tell me that my posts are not making sense, and that my posts are not contributing to the thread. I was wrong; it's just more subtle now.
He did have an atractiveness to him, though, and I shall vote that way.
Putting that aside, it has been shown, to me, that Panache is alive and well in a different world.
The dull sadness I feel is for those XMTS friends who are gone, and I do not know where and why.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I, for one, find that my responsibilities are much greater with Panache's absense. It has fallen on me to continue with tales where the evil machinations of Grant must be thwarted by those of us in the hero trade.

Jeff might I remind you that my words are that of "Middle English" which falls exactly between "Modern English" and "Ancient Gibberish".
Secondly. Who do you think you are, Panache? He kept correcting me all the way to the insane asylum.
